Now in its 4th year, the Paris Peace Forum is held annually in France and acts as a mobilising force bringing together relevant actors to address the challenges of our time and the attacks on multilateralism in order to advance concrete solutions throughout the year.
More than a traditional conference, the Paris Peace Forum is also an incubator, a salon and a summit where any organisation can publicise, debate and advance a governance initiative; a place of exchange where specialists bring out solutions for a more stable and peaceful world.
On the agenda of the 4th edition, humanity must now rebuild for the better, but this will only be possible if we manage to reduce the fractures, to fill the deficits that threaten this reconstruction:
- the shortfall in response to the pandemic and the economic crisis ;
- the lack of ambition on global commons such as climate;
- the deficit of North-South solidarity which jeopardises the joint resolution of global problems;
- the inclusion deficit (elite-people divide; gender inequality) that threatens to further divide our societies.
The 2020 edition contributed to the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic by stimulating vaccine financing and distribution, bringing together public development banks for a greener recovery and highlighting civil society solutions.
The 4th edition will seek to stimulate a stronger and more inclusive recovery by addressing the fractures in global governance, proposing initiatives to better manage the global commons, and putting forward new principles for action in the post-Covid world.
This 4th edition will follow and complement the G20 summit in Rome (30-31 October) and the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow (1-12 November).
"A heat wave, a cyber attack, a pandemic: events that affect people's lives are often beyond the reach of national governments. The Forum is a platform to coordinate a response by involving all relevant actors."
