Yann ARTHUS-BERTRAND

Born in Paris in 1946, Yann Arthus-Bertrand is a photographer, filmmaker, environmental activist and president of the GoodPlanet Foundation. He has always had a passion for the animal world and natural spaces. He soon began using the camera to record his observations in addition to writing.
In 1992, Yann launched the photographic project on the state of the world and its inhabitants: "The Earth From Above".

In the wake of this, he created the GoodPlanet Foundationan organisation recognised as being of public utility, whose objectives are to place ecology and humanism at the heart of people's consciences and to arouse the desire to take concrete action for the earth and its inhabitants. In May 2017, he and his foundation opened the first place dedicated to ecology and humanism in Paris, Le Domaine de Longchamp located in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne. The Domaine offers a free space for experimentation with committed works, meetings and sharing, to experience a generous ecology.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand is considered to be an environmental activist, a commitment that earned him the title of "Goodwill Ambassador" of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on 22 April 2009.

Yann has extensive television experience thanks to his documentary programme Vue du Ciel, which has been exported to 49 countries around the world. He has made several documentaries on the environment and humanism:

  • HOME: a feature film about the state of our planet. Released on 5 June 2009 simultaneously on television, online, on DVD and in cinemas worldwide, mostly free of charge, the film has been seen by almost 600 million viewers in over 100 countries.
  • Planet Ocean: a documentary film about the planet and the risks it faces due to human activity, released in 2011, co-written and co-directed with Michael Pitiot.
  • La soif du monde: released in 2012, a documentary co-directed with Thierry Piantanida and Baptiste Rouget-Luchaire. The film takes us around the world to discover the many issues related to freshwater and their human and societal consequences.
  • Human: released in 2015, this documentary is composed of never-before-seen aerial images and on-camera testimonies, HUMAN is a singular fresco that paints a portrait of humanity today.
  • Terra: also released in 2015, looks at the natural history of humanity and our existence on Earth.

Always on the path of his commitment, Yann Arthus-Bertrand took on a new challenge by co-directing with Anastasia Mikova "Woman which was released on 4 March 2020. This film is entirely devoted to women around the world, and involved more than 3 years of shooting, 60 countries visited, and thousands of interviews.

He is currently working on several new photo exhibition projects as well as films and documentaries, including "France, une histoire d'amour".
